Privacy Policy

What information is collected when you use Lightroom Look, who collects it, and the choices you have.

Last updated:

Lightroom Look ("we", "us") runs lightroomlook.com, a library of free Adobe Lightroom presets. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the site, who collects it, and what you can do about it.

The short version

  • You don't need an account, and we never ask for personal details just to browse the site or download a preset.
  • We only receive your name or email address if you send us a message or subscribe to our newsletter.
  • The site is funded by ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show and measure those ads. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first.
  • Our visitor statistics come from Plausible Analytics, which uses no cookies and collects no personal data.
  • The site's own code sets no cookies.

Information you give us

Contact form

When you use our contact form, you send us your name, email address and message. The form is processed by Web3Forms, which delivers it to our email inbox and keeps its own copy for a limited time under its privacy policy. We use these details only to read and reply to your message.

Newsletter

When you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored by our email provider, Kit (formerly ConvertKit), under its privacy policy. You'll receive an email asking you to confirm before you're added. We use your address only to send you new presets and editing tips, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.

Information collected automatically

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics to count visits. Plausible doesn't use cookies, doesn't create persistent identifiers, and doesn't collect or store personal data; raw IP addresses are never stored. It records aggregate information: the page visited, the referring site, your browser, operating system and device type, and your approximate location (country, region and city). When you click a Download button, we also record which preset was downloaded. Plausible processes and stores this data in the EU.

Advertising

Ads on this site are served by Google AdSense, which collects information through cookies and similar technologies. See Advertising and cookies below.

Content delivery and server logs

To load the site, your browser connects directly to a few services, and each one receives your IP address and browser information as part of that request:

  • Our web host, whose servers keep standard access logs (IP address, browser, page requested and time) that are used for security and troubleshooting.
  • Contentful, which delivers the preset preview images (privacy notice).
  • Google Fonts, which delivers the site's typeface (privacy information).

Preset downloads are served from our own site, and site search runs entirely in your browser — what you type into it isn't sent anywhere.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which is what keeps our presets free.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Google and its partners may also use cookies to measure how ads perform, limit how often you see the same ad, and detect fraud and abuse.

Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in Google's Privacy Policy.

Your advertising choices

  • Opt out of personalized advertising from Google in Ads Settings.
  • Opt out of personalized advertising from other participating third-party vendors at www.aboutads.info, or in Europe at Your Online Choices.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Opting out doesn't remove ads; the ads you see just become less tailored to you.

Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

Before any personalized advertising, you're shown a consent message from Google's consent management platform, which is certified under the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework. It lists the advertising partners involved and lets you consent, refuse, or choose partner by partner under "Manage options". If you don't consent, you may still see non-personalized or limited ads. You can change your choice at any time with the "Privacy and cookie settings" link shown on the pages of this site that carry ads.

How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • reply to messages you send us — to respond to your request (legitimate interests);
  • send the newsletter you signed up for — based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing;
  • understand which pages and presets are popular, using aggregate statistics that don't identify you (legitimate interests);
  • keep the site secure and working (legitimate interests);
  • show the ads that fund the site — personalized advertising for visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland relies on the consent given in Google's consent message.

Sharing

We don't sell or rent the name, email address or messages you send us. Information is handled by the service providers named in this policy — Google, Plausible, Web3Forms, Kit, Contentful and our web host — for the purposes described here. We may also disclose information when the law requires it. Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States.

How long we keep it

  • Contact messages: in our inbox for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry. Web3Forms keeps its own copy for up to three years.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address.
  • Analytics: aggregate statistics only, containing no personal data.
  • Server logs: kept by our web host on its standard retention schedule.
  • Advertising cookies: set and controlled by Google and its partners, as described in Google's policies above. You can delete them in your browser at any time.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. If you're in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Residents of some US states have similar rights under state privacy laws.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email, and manage advertising using the choices under Advertising and cookies.

Children

Lightroom Look isn't directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date at the top.
